N.B. You must be over 18 to train.

Member comment: "Some of the techniques are so clever, the way you are put in a seemingly inescapable situation, but knowing exact, subtle movements of parts of your body you never normally think about, allows you to instantly gain control."

Aikido immobilisationIf you've been searching for martial arts training in Southcote, Reading, then you might like to think about training at the White Oak Aikido dojo. We offer training for beginners every Thursday and/or Sunday, just the other side of the A4 at the YMCA in Parkside Road. You can pop in for a free taster session, find out more about Aikido, chat to the teachers and other students, and find out whether Aikido is the right martial art for you.

Aikido is..?
Aikido techniques are based on those used by the ancient samurai on the battlefields of Japan.  Modernised for today, however, you can safely train in this traditional martial art, not only as a way of self-defence, but also as a way of self-development. There are many benefits to training in Aikido such as developing
self-confidence, flexibility, improved posture, relaxation and overall fitness.

More about the training...
With both a 6th dan male and 4th dan female coach, White Oak Aikido offers training in a
non-competitive and non-aggressive atmosphere, designed to ensure you can progress effectively in your martial arts training and gain confidence in your skills. All our coaches hold British Aikido Board coaching qualifications, whilst our lead coach holds the Level 3 coaching award, as well as the Award in Education and Training, so you can be sure of the quality of the teaching.

More about the Aikido Beginners' Course...
Our eight-week Foundations Course for beginners costs only £60, including the White Oak Aikido e-handbook, online access to the
White Oak Aikido training video and one training session a week, although you're welcome to train more often, if you wish.
