The Aikido Foundations Course
As a beginner, you can join our Aikido Foundations Course at any time and learn the basics of this highly enjoyable, versatile and effective martial art. Training is available on either Thursdays or Sundays, or you're welcome to train on both days, if you wish. To check out whether Aikido is the right martial art for you, you're invited to try it out first with a free taster session. Just come along, have a go at Aikido, and ask any questions you have of the teachers and the other students - all with no commitment.

Some more about Aikido
The founder of Aikido died in 1969, having evolved Aikido from a number of traditional Japanese martial arts that he studied in his earlier years, whilst also imbuing it with strong moral principles. Consequently, Aikido offers both an effective method of self-defence,
which almost anyone can train in, as well as an approach for self-development and conflict resolution. As Aikido is a martial art that often relies on the force and momentum of an attack, it's not necessary to build great muscular strength in order to train. However, training will help you to gain overall fitness and flexibility, as well as increasing your self-confidence and even helping you to relax.

Training in the martial arts with us
At White Oak Aikido, we have a number of coaches, all of whom hold
British Aikido Board coaching qualifications, whilst all training is under the direction of both a 6th dan male and 4th dan female coach. At White Oak Aikido, you'll be training in a traditional Japanese martial art, but unlike some martial arts, you'll find a non-competitive and non-aggressive approach to training, where you're challenged to work hard, but at your own pace, and where learning, building skills and building confidence in your new skills is regarded as more important than churning you through the grades.

The White Oak Aikido eight-week Foundations Course costs only £60, which also gives you access online to our Aikido training video and Aikido e-handbook.
