What's
it like training at White Oak

Aikido
training at Reading is in a friendly,
non-aggressive and non-competitive
environment. Focus is on learning and
developing. Regular White Oak Aikido Reading
training is led by 2nd
dan and 1st dan coaches, qualified to
the standards required by the British Aikido
Board. White Oak Aikido Reading operates under
the guidance of a 6th

Beginners page for more details.
Do you
run a Beginners' Aikido Course?
Training in the martial arts
is a long-term commitment, which is why
we set up the eight-week Foundations
Course, our Aikido course for beginners.
This establishes the habit of regular
training which is what will enable you
to make real progress. Your Foundations
Course includes online access to a lot
of useful information and videos about
Aikido in general, including the basic
techniques and exercises, so you can
continue your study of Aikido at home or
if you have to miss a class - your
martial arts insurance is also included
in the cost. The eight-week Foundations
Course costs £60. Please contact
us for more information, or we
will explain the details to you and you
can ask any questions at your first
session.
What
happens after the Aikido Beginners' Course?
Successfully completing the Foundations Course
means you'll be invited to join the White Oak
Aikido Reading Dojo as a full member. Ongoing
training is then available to intermediate and
advanced levels. You'll be ready to learn more
advanced techniques and train in using the
techniques from more advanced attacks, as well
as going deeper into the study of Aikido in
general. You'll also be invited to attend
seminars with a variety of teachers to enhance
your training. When you're ready, gradings are
available to mark your progress.
And we're proud to be the only Aikido dojo
in Reading and one of only three in
Berkshire that's a member of the British Aikido
Board, recognised by Sport
England as the UK's national governing
body for Aikido.
